What an absolutely wonderful way to end the summer reading program! It was a huge success with those who were able to attend. Kids of all ages filled the Academy lawn with laughter and showed their delight. Great job Modern Times Theater and a big thank you to our librarian Dylan Ford! Many thanks to the Vermont Department of Libraries for their generous funding, helping to bring us this performance!

The McIndoes Academy Library is now open
The McIndoe Falls Academy is excited to announce that the library is open! The Academy Board of Trustees, in an effort to transition the iconic school building into a Community Center, has decided that an important first step is to welcome folks into the library.
The library closed last year due to the Covid pandemic, but has sat ready and waiting for the community. Now the doors are open. Dylan Ford, director of the Barnet Public Library, is stepping in as Librarian at McIndoes Academy as well. “It’s a great relationship, as patrons have access to both collections and resources. I have staggered hours, so with 2 libraries, people have more opportunities to visit; what one library lacks, the other one most likely offers.” The 2 libraries will share some Summer Reading resources and combine events as a way of getting access to libraries to as many people as possible.
The library is open Mondays 9am-noon and Thursdays 12:30-5pm. The space offers two public computers, a great collection of books for kids and adults and cozy corners for browsing books or digital devices. The high speed internet often reaches 200mbps which is a luxury speed in Barnet.
This is only the beginning for the McIndoe Falls Academy. The board has been running a successful food pick-up and delivery service during the pandemic. This summer the board is planning 4 Market and Music events with local vendors and musicians on the front lawn. In an effort to turn the building into a vibrant community resource, the board has hired Cynthia Stuart, a local consultant to assist them in their journey forward. Keep an eye out for upcoming news and events at McIndoe Falls Academy.
The library is open to everyone! Folks from Barnet and beyond are encouraged to use this welcoming community library space. Check the McIndoes Academy Facebook page or email firstname.lastname@example.org with questions. Check out the mcindoesacademy.org website for more Academy news!
